A social and send-off was given on Thursday evening, November 1, in the Protestant Hall, Beaufort-street, by Mr. and Mrs. H. A. F. Bader to their son, Trooper Carl Bader, prior to his leaving again for the front. Over 100 guests were present, including returned Anzacs, and officers and men about to embark, and also representatives from clubs and societies of which Trooper Bader was a member. Trooper Bader volunteered and was attested on August 14, 1914, and went with the first contingent, original 11th Battalion, in A.M.C., and was in the landing party on Gallipoli, and remained there till the evacuation. After this he was attached to the Light Horse, and went through Egypt, and then up as far as Gaza and Beersheba, in Palestine. He returned to Perth on duty about a month ago and is now re-embarking for service again after three years. A very pleasant evening was spent, and a programme of musical and elocutionary items was gone through, those contributing thereto being Misses P. Watson, Fitzpatrick, Keane, Peet, Messrs. Webster, Sergeant Winter, Lieut. Tiller, Master H. Bader, and the Charles Street Wesley Choir. At the supper a number of toasts were honoured, Mr J. S. Battye proposing the principal toast, "Trooper Carl Bader," which was responded to in a very pleasing manner. The toast of "The Artistes" had coupled with it that of the absent son, Sergeant O. Bader, who was at first reported killed, but was subsequently reported wounded and a prisoner in Germany, and whose pro press is now said to be very good. A Very pleasant and successful evening was brought to a close with the singing of the national Anthem. https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/81820708
