Dear Brother,
I am sorry to say I have sad news to tell you, our poor Grandmother died last evening at about half past seven o'clock and will be buried on the Canning tomorrow evening at four o'clock. I am going up in the trap and if you would like to see the last of her, and could arrange to be in Perth at Stricklands' Hotel by one o'clock I will meet you there. I am sending word to Charles to see if he could come. Uncle John came down this morning to let me know the sad news.
