Susannah, who became Mrs William Lewington, at the age of 17, did nor fare at all well. In 1869, her sixty seven year old husband died. In 1881 she was described in court as a prostitute and was sentenced to 21 days hard labour for being drunk. Numerous arrests for drunkenness, vagrancy and stealing continued over the years. By September, 1891 the old woman had made her 96th court appearance. In December 1892 she was sentenced to three month's imprisonment without hard labour. On the 18th October, 1893 Mrs W. Lewington, aged 78, died in Guildford at the residence of her grand-daughter, Mrs Oaten. She had arrived in the colony in the very early days and left behind two sons, four daughters and 37 grand-children.

In March, 1854 Mrs Lewington was imprisoned for seven days for being drunk and disorderly. Robert "Medwell" was fined seven shillings for the same offence.
